What is TM?
A simple, natural and effortless mental technique practised sitting comfortably with the eyes closed for 15 to 20 minutes twice daily. TM requires no concentration, control of the mind, change in lifestyle or particular belief. Once learned from a certified TM teacher, it can be practised independently almost anywhere.

Discovering the Mind’s Natural Tendency to Transcend
The active surface of the mind can be compared to waves on the surface of an ocean. Beneath the waves, the ocean naturally becomes quieter. During TM, the mind settles through quieter levels of thought until it reaches a deeply peaceful level of awareness. This inward settling is called transcending, and it happens without force or concentration.
As mental activity settles, the body experiences deep rest while the mind remains alert.
A Tradition Carefully Preserved
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi introduced Transcendental Meditation internationally in the late 1950s and established a systematic programme for training certified teachers.
Today, TM continues to be taught through personal instruction so each person learns correctly and receives ongoing guidance.
